چکیده

Skin is a complex, multilayered material which is very difficult to study because of its great variability: it depends on individuals, but also on which body part one looks at. Even studying a small area, its behaviour varies with outside parameters (such as humidity) and aging. Let us describe its 3 main layers. 3 The epidermis: thickness 0.1mm, made of keratinocytes, which move from its bottom to its top and change of nature during this migration, to end up dying at the surface. No blood vessel. 3 The dermis: thickness: some mm, (15-20 % of the total body weight). Contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerve endings, hair follicles and hair muscles, sebaceous glands and sweat glands. Made of fibrin proteins (collagen, elastin) interacting with a surrounding matrix of ground substance, an amorphous gel which does not leak out from the skin, even under high pressure. 3 The hypodermis: thickness: fibrofatty layer (about 10 % of the total body weight) whose thickness varies a lot, depending on the location on the body (between 1 to tens mm)

Studying the Mechanical Behavior of Tissue in the Generation of Pressure Sores using Simulation and a Guinea Pig Experimental Model

Introduction:  Pressure  sores  refer  to  lesions  that  are  produced  while  a  constant  pressure  causes  necrotic  tissue to grow. The need for a better comprehension of the process has led researchers to artificial generation  of  pressure  sores.  Modeling  the  mechanical  behavior  of tissue  will  provide  a better understanding  of this  process as well as a more suitable selection ...

Modeling Static Bruising in Apple Fruits: A Comparative Study, Part II: Finite Element Approach

ABSTRACT- Mechanical damage degrades fruit quality in the chain from production to the consumption. Damage is due to static, impact and vibration loads during processes such as harvesting, transportation, sorting and bulk storage. In the present study finite element (FE) models were used to simulate the process of static bruising for apple fruits by contact of the fruit with a hard surface. Thr...

Low intensity ultrasound mechanical index as a parameter affecting of ability of proliferation and collagene type 1 expression of cells

Introduction: Mechanical index (MI) is used for quantifying acoustic cavitation and the relationship between acoustic pressure and the frequency. In this study, modeling of the MI was applied to provide treatment protocol and to understand the effective physical processes on reproducibility and gene expression of fibroblast cells. Skin damage can occur of burn, cuts, abrasions ...

Fatigue Life Assessment of Composite Airplane Wing Subjected to Variable Mechanical and Thermal Loads

The purpose of this paper is to estimate the fatigue life of an airplane wing with laminated composite skin, subjected to variable mechanical and thermal loads. To achieve this aim,at first, the three-dimensional model of airplane wing was drawn in CATIA software. Then, by transferring the model to the ABAQUS software, the finite element model of the wing wascreated. H...

The Influence of Effective Factors on Mechanical Stress on Fingertips During Snap-fit Assembly

Objectives: Nowadays, Snap-fits are used in the automotive industry as a proper alternative for mechanical joints, cabling joints, and car interior lining joints. Due to the special form of these joints, which are assembled manually, the contact area between Snap-fits and the worker’s fingertips can be too small. This can cause skin pain on the worker’s  fingertips. Therefore, ...

The Effect of External Skin on Buckling Strength of Composite Lattice Cylinders Based on Numerical and Experimental Analysis

Currently, lattice composite structures have many applications in aerospace industries. The present research analyzed the effect of an external skin consisting of a lattice’s cylindrical shell on the buckling strength of composite materials, both numerically and experimentally. Two classes of specimens, with and without external skins, were fabricated using the filament winding process. To find...
